Green Cleaning in Focus: Eucalyptus Oil

By: Laura Trotta (BEng(Environmental) MSc(Environmental Chemistry))

In the first of our green cleaning in focus features, we take a detailed look at my personal favourite green cleaning product, Eucalyptus Oil.

This native Australian oil truly is amazing. Made by distilling foliage from Eucalyptus trees, it is an excellent natural disinfectant, antibacterial cleanser and deodoriser and can be used to clean every room in the house.

Despite its strong ability to clean, it is surprisingly gentle and is suitable for almost all household surfaces including benchtops, sinks, tiles, porcelain, mirrors, glass, hard surface floors and carpet.

Eucalyptus Oil is non-toxic for drains and is an environmentally friendly way to clean. It is also very cheap and can be purchased from your local pharmacy or supermarket.

I have no doubt that while testing the following multitude of uses for Eucalyptus Oil in your home it will quickly become your favourite household green cleaning product too.
